None of these will produce a wide panorama in the normal sense, as they all have a standard focal length lens (around 50mm equivalent).įor a bit more work, you could buy an old 9x12cm plate camera, fit a wide angle lens and buy or make a back to take roll film. Something like a Kodak Monitor (the 616 version) would make a very good base. If you want really cheap with a but more width, and are reasonably handy, you could get an old 616 camera (or one of the other larger obsolete formats) and modify it to take 120 film. The Ercona II is very good, but they are quite pricey now. Going for the better Zeiss models, you are often competing against collectors. Good ones are very sharp, but you need to buy from a reputable seller. The best value for money in 6x9, if you get a good one, is the Russian Moskva 5 (or even the 2).
Just bear in mind you are dealing with an old camera, so folder or not, condition and operation is all important. I think you are much better of just using 120 film and cropping, rather than 35mm.Ĭontrary to what Roger says, there are quite a few folders capable of very good results. There are lots of models, Voighlander, ZeisIcon, Ercona, and also I will go for these kind of cameras, but I notice that and found that you can get a vintage 6x9įolding camera for less than 100 bucks. I search and leave behind the Mamiya super 23, the Fujica and as I have very little money to buy theĬamera. The lens I will have not a real panoramic shoot but a standard likeĬropped negative on top and on bottom sides. I know Mamiyaħ and 6 have an adapter kit for this porpouse.
